LEWD exhibits explicit art in a casual, playful manner. Although erotic art can be construed as offensive, it has been present in art throughout time, in cave drawings, religious documents and ancient sculptures. Although historically, erotic art has been archived and hidden away in books, in the last few decades it has been creeping out into the open, hastened by social media’s broad platform.
It’s stimulating to see artists, especially women, creating lustful and lascivious imagery. These ribald artists have chosen to break the boundaries of polite society by creating. By sharing their art, they are providing an outlet of acceptance in the modern world. LEWD is an exhibition and a forum for social acceptance and celebration of naughty, filthy, gorgeous art. It will be a ridiculously fun shit show of a good time.
